Waymap goes live at Lord’s Cricket Ground

Marylebone Cricket Club – known the world over as MCC – is setting a new standard in accessibility for sports fans by partnering with Waymap.
Today, Lord’s Cricket Ground – the London stadium where MCC is based – becomes the first stadium in the world to implement Waymap technology.
Waymap’s arrival at Lord’s will enhance the matchday experience for blind and disabled visitors, as well as for all fans coming to the Home of Cricket.
Waymap’s highly-accurate personal navigation system now offers step-by-step audio and on-screen instructions to help visitors find their way to seats, amenities and exits at Lord’s.
The app supports full journey routing from anywhere within the M25 and is optimised for those with disabilities, while also enhancing convenience for all users, including staff and international visitors.
Waymap supports the MCC’s sustainability goals by enabling fans to seamlessly plan and complete their journeys to Lord’s using sustainable modes of transport.
By providing reliable, step-by-step navigation from your home to the Home of Cricket, the app will assist in selecting low-carbon travel options, helping to reduce the overall environmental impact of matchday travel.
Waymap’s core systems don’t rely on GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth or mobile data.
Robert Ebdon, MCC Director of Estates, said: “At MCC, we are committed to making Lord’s as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Our partnership with Waymap allows us to lead the way in accessible innovation, ensuring that every visitor — regardless of ability — can experience the magic of Lord’s with greater ease and independence.”
Tom Pey, Waymap’s Founder and President, said: “It’s wonderful to see MCC setting such a great example of how to make accessibility happen. It will make things much easier for blind and disabled people visiting Lord’s. It will also help everyone coming to the ground – whether it’s to easily find their way to their seats, to the bars and other facilities, or to the most convenient exit after a match.”
Waymap has tailored accessibility features such as step-free routing, guidance to accessible toilets, and food and drink options — all available in multiple languages.
Visitors will initially access the features through the Waymap app. Next season the functionality will be built into the Lord’s app making sustainable and accessible travel planning even more convenient for all visitors.
